Gladstone hots up

William Ewart Gladstone confidently took his second stride of the summer. Round 2 saw those who won in the first round play other winners, and losers play other losers. So the games were better matched, and the results less certain. What would happen? And who would come out on top?

All smiles before the hostilities start.

Selected games

Here are the select games of round two.

First up, Our Good Friend Mister Taylor against Mister Ioannou. Our Good Friend came out on top in this match last year, so Mister Ioannou was keen to set the record straight. A topsy-turvy affair, with chances for both sides. But the winner is the one who makes the penultimate mistake, in this case Mister Ioannou.

What could Our Good Friend Mister Taylor see?

The second game saw Mister Dias take on the man of round 1: Mister Bailey. Having seen off Doctor Saldanha (no mean feat), Mister Dias went into the game weary of what Mister Bailey had to offer.

Mister Dias and glass of red. A now familiar sight.

And this final game, between two of the favourites. A hard fought draw that went back and forth through the game. With both these big beasts dropping the half point, has the field just opened up?
