The 2022-23 Hamilton Russell season has finished, so let’s look at the final table:
The NLC finished in a magnificent sixth place with wins against the Reform and Hurlingham, and draws against the Chelsea Arts, Oriental and East India, and the mighty MCC. We didn’t quite match the joint fourth of last year, but we obtained the same seven points.
In our early days we looked on the wooden spoon with a sort of perverse pride – at least we turned up. But now we’re a bit better than that. A major achievement is that we got a positive result from more than half of our matches.
We scored 25.5 game points in Hamilton Russell matches, stomping our previous record of 17.5 points.
So thanks to Captain Giffin KC MA (Oxon) for keeping us in the promised land of mid-table obscurity and for agreeing to lead the NLC band again next year.
Nice one 😉
Well done Nigel and all.
