Burgeoning Liberal team shatters all records!

From small acorns mighty oaks grow.

Some remember the olden days, when the same six Liberal chess players – indeed back then they were the only six Liberal chess players – had to play each and every game, whether Cup or Friendly. If anyone skipped a match we defaulted a board (and we have never defaulted a board…).

Those days are gone. Under the superb stewardship of past and current Captains Trivedi, Kirby (twice), Chamberlain, Hamme and Giffin, the NLC Chess Circle has grown each and every season.

And just this season alone we have already fielded a massive 17 players across Cup and Friendly games. A record haul of Liberal chessers, and proof that Liberal Chess is going from strength to strength.

So here’sthe roll call of the honoured Libs who have, so far, played for the NLC during the 2022-23 season:

And we know of a couple of players who have come to the Beginners, Improvers and Returners evenings and are awaiting their debut in a forthcoming Friendly game. So this number should be even higher by the end of the season!
