The NLC Chess Circle is delighted to announce the second NLC Lightning Chess Tournament (2018), to be held on Wednesday 28 February 2018 at the NLC Clubhouse, 1 Whitehall Place.
This will be a relaxed and enjoyable evening of lightning chess in which moves are played alternately to a 10 second metronome buzzer. Each player will play a number of games over the course of the evening. The winner will have their name etched on the glittering Ming Vase.
Lightning chess is a great ‘leveler’ and so those with less or no playing experience are warmly encouraged to come along. We hope to welcome both NLC members and chess playing members from other Clubs.
We will be dining afterward (a special set menu will be on offer) and there will be plenty of opportunity to socialise over pre- and post- tournament drinks.
Details of last year’s succesful event, won by Mister Hughes of the RAC, can be found here: https://nlcchess.net/2017/03/
The tournament will start at 7pm sharp, with players encouraged to meet at the bar at 6.30 for the necessary refreshments.
Entries are welcome right up to the day itself, but in order to ensure the smooth running of the competition and ensure the correct reservation for dinner, it would be very helpful to know in advance the likely numbers of entrants. Please could those interested in playing send a quick email or text message confirming intentions to play to Ben Widdicombe at bjwidds@googlemail.com, 07765007542.
